The leader in Group C Germany welcomes Northern Ireland at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt in a game from the last round of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign

The leader in Group C Germany welcomes Northern Ireland at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt in a game from the last round of the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign. The Mannschaft will try to keep the first place in the group ahead of the Netherlands.

Germany can be happy with what’s happened on Saturday. Joachim Low’s team didn’t make a mistake during their home game against Belarus, while Netherlands’ wrong step in Belfast allowed Germany to top the group again. Right now the four time world champions are leading the group standings with two points advantage in front of the Oranje. A win against Northern Ireland on Tuesday will mean winning the group.

The Mannschaft didn’t show any mercy to the visiting Belarus at the Borussia-Park in Monchengladbach. Real Madrid’s midfield ace Toni Kroos scored a brace for the home side, while Matthias Ginter and Leon Goretzka also scored for the German side. It was a remarkable game for Toni Kroos, because he didn’t just score two goals, he also made an assist for Goretzka’s goal.

Northern Ireland are third in Group C with 13 points and most likely they will finish there. The Brits are three points behind the Netherlands, but even if they get on par with them, Oranje have the better stats in the head-to-head records.

Still, we can say it was another good qualifying campaign for Northern Ireland. The football in this country is clearly on the rise, because the national team is performing better than ever. So far in Group C Northern Ireland recorded four wins, made one draw and suffered two defeats. They had the bad luck to be in the same group with powerhouses like Germany and the Netherlands.

This should be a fine game between Germany and Northern Ireland on Tuesday. Joachim Low’s team is the clear favourite, but the Brits will fight for their own prestige, you can be sure about this.
