Roma hosts Wolfsberger AC at the Stadio Olimpico in a game from Group J of Europa League

Roma hosts Wolfsberger AC at the Stadio Olimpico in a game from Group J of Europa League. Let’s take a look at this fixture for a few minutes, shall we?

Roma are second in this group with 8 points won. They are on par with the leader Borussia M’gladbach, but they are second because they have worse head-to-head stats with the German team. So far in this group the Wolves won twice, made two draws and suffered one defeat.

Roma are just one point ahead of the third Istanbul Basaksehir in the standings, so they need to win this game in order to be sure in their progression to the knockout phase of Europa League.

When Roma travelled to Austria to face Wolfsberger AC in October the game ended with a 1-1 draw. Leo Spinazzola opened the score for the Italians, but Michael Liendl equalised for the Austrians.

Wolfsberger AC started their Europa League campaign with a bang, crushing Borussia M’gladbach with 4-0 in their first game. In the next game they won a point against Roma, but this was the final time they won anything in this group. In the next three matches they suffered three losses, which is the reason why they are 4th now with 4 points won. And without any chance to reach the next phase of the tournament.

In their previous game in the group Roma travelled to Turkey and crushed Istanbul Basaksehir with 3-0. Jordan Veretout opened the score by a penalty kick, while Justin Kluivert and Edin Dzeko finished the job for Paulo Fonseca’s team.

Meanwhile in their previous game Wolfsberger AC hosted Borussia M’gladbach in a crucial clash, but lost with 0-1. This is the result which kicked them out of the competition.

We believe that Roma will win this game against Wolfsberger AC at the Olimpico. The Austrian side is not playing for anything in Europa League now, so the motivation will be in Roma’s camp.
