Olympique Lyonnais faces Olympique Marseille in the derby clash of the 1/4-finals of Coupe de France. This game is going to be played at the Groupama Stadium in Lyonnais on Wednesday.

Olympique Lyonnais’ manager Rudi Garcia is going to face one of his former clubs, which is an interesting detail here. Is this going to give Garcia some kind of advantage? He knows well some of the players, so it’s quite possible. We should wait and see.

In the previous round Olympique Lyonnais didn’t have an easy task, because they had to visit Nice at the Allianz Riviera. Les Gones managed to achieve a dramatic 2-1 win, thanks to Houssem Aouar’s winning goal in the 93th minute. Moussa Dembele also scored for Olympique Lyonnais in this game. For Nice though it was dissapointing to concede a goal in such a moment, right before the beginning of the extra time.

For Olympique Lyonnais this game comes just three days after their match with the champions PSG in the Ligue 1.

Olympique Marseille are enjoying a pretty good campaign in Andre Villas-Boas’ first season in the Ligue 1. The Portuguese manager is doing a great job, because at this moment Marseille are 2nd in the league and making steps towards another Champions League participation.

During the 1/8-finals of the Coupe de France Olympique Marseille hosted Strasbourg at the Velodrome and celebrated a convincing 3-1 win. Bouna Sarr, Dimitri Payet from a penalty kick and Boubacar Kamara scored for Villas-Boas’ team.

This match between Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique Marseille is arguably the most exciting from the 1/4-finals of the Coupe de France. Both teams are good enough to win here, although the home advantage will be for Les Gones. But don’t write off Marseille – their performance this season is convincing.
