Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at the Anfield in the big derby of the 13th round in the Premier League

Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur at the Anfield in the big derby of the 13th round in the Premier League. The leadership in the division could change after this game. Let’s take a look.

For the reigning champion Liverpool this is a great chance to return at the top of the league. Right now the Reds are second in the Premier League standings with 25 points, which puts them on par with the leader Tottenham. Spurs are leading the standings though because of a better goal difference.

Few days ago Liverpool didn’t have their best game and only made a 1-1 draw during the visit to Fulham at the Craven Cottage. Until the 79th minute Fulham were ahead in the scoreline, but Mohamed Salah rescued the champions with a well-executed penalty kick in the 79th minute.

Another injury happened in Liverpool’s squad and these are the bad news after the last game. Joel Matip left the pitch injured, so now the manager Jurgen Klopp is left with no centre-backs at his disposal.

Tottenham Hotspur are leading the standings after 12 matches played. Spurs are ahead of everyone else with 25 points won so far and they are slowly turning into contenders for the crown. It remains to be seen if they can keep up with the others and actually compete for the title.

During the weekend Spurs also made just a draw while away from home. Jose Mourinho’s team faced Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park, but only won a point with a 1-1 draw. Harry Kane opened the score for Tottenham, but Schlupp equalised for Palace just 9 minutes before the end of the game.

That’s our preview for the Premier League derby between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday. This is a simple situation for both teams – Liverpool will try to get back on first place while Spurs will try to keep it.
