TPS Turku are hosting OPS Oulu in a match from the 16th round of the Finish Ykkonen. The match is going to be played on Sunday afternoon in the city of Turku.

Turku are in a much better position than OPS Oulu in the standings right now. They are third with 29 points won, just two points behind the first two teams in the table – Honka and KPV. If they manage to beat OPS Oulu, Turku are going to clinch the first place in the Ykkonen.

OPS Oulu on the other hand are 7th in the league standings with 18 points won so far. They are clearly too far away from the top and promotion is not on the table for them. They must be more worried about avoiding relegation, because they are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the top.

TPS Turku are clearly in a good form at the moment. They are in a run of three consecutive wins and they didn’t lose neither one of their last five matches in the league. They are the team with the best defense in the Ykkonen at the moment, having conceded just 6 goals from 15 games played. This is a really, really impressive achievement from them.

As for OPS Oulu, they won just one of their last five matches – against GrlFK. In their last three games they won just two points, which is a proof that they are not in a position to chase big goals this season.

TPS Turku are the clear favourite to win this clash. They are much better team and they are playing at home. Anything, but a win for Turku would be a sensation in this clash. Turku’s players know that a win would send them on the top of the table. And who doesn’t want to be there?

Horsens welcomes Lyngby in a match from the second round of the Danish Superliga. The game is going to be played on Sunday afternoon in the city of Horsens.

Both teams started the new season in the best way possible – with a win.

Horsens travelled to face AGF and won the game with 2-1. The African aces Bubacarr Sanneh and Joseph Mensah scored for the win and their strikes meant first three points for Horsens.

Meanwhile Lyngby won with 2-1 the home game against Silkeborg. Kristoffer Larsen and David Boysen from a late penalty kick scored for the home team and it was enough for Lyngby to win first three points for the new campaign.

If we take a look at the last season in the Superliga, we shall see that Lyngby did much better during the regular season than Horsens.

Lyngby finished the regular season at 3rd place, which was a great performance for them. Meanwhile Horsens ended the regular season 10th, which meant that they had to play in the relegation round of the Superliga.

If we take a look at the head to head records we shall see that last season these two teams met two times. And despite of the final positions of these two teams in the standings, Horsens won twice. The first time with 2-1 and the second time with 1-0.

So it’s understandable that Lyngby will want to avenge these two losses when they meet again with Horsens on Sunday afternoon. Both teams will enter the match with a good confidence level after winning their games in the first round. To start the new campaign with a win is always great and these two teams did it. Can one of them make it two in a row? We will see today.

Sonderjyske hosts Randers in a match from the first round of the new season of the Danish Superliga.

Last season these two teams ended their campaigns in a very different way.

SonderjyskE reached the Championship Round of the league where they ended their campaign at 5th position, remaining out of the European competitions.

Randers had to play in the Relegation Round, after finishing the regular season at 7th place. In the Relegation Round they were the best team, finishing at 1st place and avoiding relegation in a pretty comfortable way.

Now both teams would want to improve their positions from the last year. SonderjyskE will once again aim for qualification for the Championship Round, but this time the goal is to qualify for the European competitions as well.

As for Randers, finishing in the Top 6 is the main goal. Last year Randers ended the regular season on just two points behind Nordsjælland and the Championship Round zone, which was a huge dissapointment for them. Because they were so close to their main goal.

The balance between these two teams in the head to head matches in the last two years is pretty even. SonderjyskE won the last game between them with 1-0, but before that Randers won with the same result. But in September 2016 Randers suffered a heavy defeat at home from SonderjyskE, losing with 0-4 in front of their own fans.

Although last year these two teams ended the season in different play-off rounds, we could say that the difference between them in terms of class and quality is not really that big. Because of that, we should expect a competitive and very interesting game between SonderjyskE and Randers. The home team looks to be a slight favourite, but let’s see what they have done during their summer preparations.

The leader in Group B Chile is facing Australia in a match from the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Chile are leading the group at the moment, although having the same amount of points as Germany. In the same time Germany are playing against Cameroon in the other game of the group. If the South Americans want to win this group, they must chase a win with a bigger margin over Australia. Can they do it?

In their last game Chile made a 1-1 draw with Germany, after taking an early lead thanks to Alexis Sanchez’ strike, but conceding an equalizer just minutes before the half-time.

In their first game Chile didn’t face any trouble against Cameroon, winning with 2-0.

As for Australia, they are currently third with just one point won so far – during the 1-1 draw with Cameroon. It’s really difficult for the Australians to think that they could reach the semifinals. Just theoretically they can do it, but only if they manage to win just a huge margin over Chile. And this does not seems very likely to happen.

Chile are one of the big favourites to win the Confederations Cup this year. Against Australia they could give a rest to some key players, preparing them for the semifinals. Being champions of South America, Chile are one of the teams to watch in Russia this summer. They have world class players like Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez, so it’s normal to consider them a strong contender for the title.

The Australians on the other hand didn’t come to Russia with very high ambitions. They knew that they are going to be labeled outsiders in the group and so far they are not anything different than that. Against Chile they will try to finish their participation with a positive results, but it’s going to be really difficult for them.

Mjøndalen hosts Ullensaker / Kisa in a match from the 12th round of the Norway’s 1. Division. The match is going to be played on Sunday night.

Both teams are with the same active of points after the first 11 games of the season – per 17. Right now Mjøndalen are in a better position than Ullensaker / Kisa, being 6th in the standing with a better goal difference.

Mjøndalen have won four of its games so far during the campaign, losing two and making draws in the other five. They have scored 21 goals so far and conceded 14. They are one of the three teams with the most efficient attack in the 1. Division since the beginning of the new campaign.

As for Ullensaker / Kisa, they have won 5, lost 4 and drew in 2 since the start of the new season. They have a totally equal goal difference so far – 16 goals scored and 16 goals conceded.

In terms of current form, both teams are not doing very well lately, winning just one of their last five matches. It’s clear that they are far away from their best form, so let’s see which one of them will show a better face when they meet on Sunday.

In terms of head to head record, Mjøndalen is the team who has an advantage in the last five games. They have won three of them, but in May 2016 they have suffered a heavy 1-5 defeat by Ullensaker / Kisa.

The last game between these two teams was played in August 2016, when Mjøndalen and Ullensaker / Kisa shared the points with a 0-0 draw.

It’s obvious that both teams have the ambition to qualify for the Eliteserien next season. But if they want to achieve they goal, they have to drastically improve the form they are showing in the last month.

After once again winning the title in the Turkish Super Lig, now Besiktas will celebrate the trophy with their fans. The new old champions are hosting Osmanlispor in their last game of the season in Istanbul.

Besiktas did great this season and managed to defend their crown from the last campaign. They won the battle with the surprising contender Istanbul Basaksehir, after intense duel with them during the whole campaign. And although Istanbul Basaksehir proved to be a worthy contender, managing to qualify for the Champions League, Besiktas once again showed themselves to be the best team in Turkey.

22 wins, 8 draws and just 3 losses. 69 goals (more than anyone else in Turkey) and 30 conceded – this is Besiktas’ performance in numbers in the Super Lig this season. They also made a strong run in Europe, reaching the final stages of Europa League, before being eliminated by Olympique Lyonnais after a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

It was once again a good season for Besiktas’ main striker Cenk Tosun at all. He managed to score 18 goals in the league so far, being on par with the legendary Samuel Eto’o from Antalyaspor. There’s only one player who have scored more goals than Tosun and Eto’o in Turkey this season – the former Brazilian international Vagner Love from Alanyaspor.

As for Osmanlispor, they achieved their biggest goal this season – the survival. They are currently 13th in the league standings, but they even have the chance to beat Alanyaspor for the 12th place.

But if we have a look at their current form, we will see that Osmanlispor are not in their greatest condition at the moment. They have lost four games in a row, which makes it hard to believe that they could win against the champion Besiktas in the last round. Especially on away ground.

KV Oostende versus Genk is the final play-off for a participation in the Europa League in the Belgian league.

These two teams will meet at the Versluys Arena in Oostende and one of them will qualify for the European competition.

KV Oostende finished at 5th place in the regular season of the First Division A. They have won 50 points in 30 games played, managing to record 14 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses. During the regular season they have scored 52 goals and conceded 37.

As for Genk, they ended they regular season campaign at 8th place. They achieved 14 wins, made 6 draws and lost 10 games. They scored 40 goals and conceded 35.

It was a really dissapointing season for Genk. They have hoped that they are going to fight for a Top 3 place in the First Division A, but their performance was not as good as it was expected. But anyway, now they will have the chance to fight for an Europa League place after some solid performance in the Europa League playoffs in Belgium.

We could say that KV Oostende dominates in the last four games against Genk. In July 2016 Genk managed to beat Oostende with 2-1, but four months later Oostende thrashed their opponents with 6-0. In January they made a 1-1 draw for the Belgian Cup, but in the rematch Oostende managed to win once again – 1-0 on away ground.

KV Oostende showed a better form in the First Division A this season, which makes them a favourite against Genk. But you should not forget that Genk are one of the historical clubs in Belgian football, so do not be too quick to write them off. We actually expect to see some really competitive game between these two sides.

Istanbul Basaksehir welcomes Besiktas in a game from the 29th round of the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday night.

Besiktas are very close to securing just another title in the Super Lig, having a 7 point advantage in front of its next opponent. A win at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu would almost sure mean that The Black Eagles are going to triumph with the title for a second year in row.

Istanbul Basaksehir on the other hand could ressurect their chances of winning the title, but only if they beat Senol Gunes’ team. Even if they lose the title fight with Besiktas, their main goal in the league remains qualifying for the Champions League. Right now Istanbul have a 4 point advantage in front of the third Fenerbache, so they need to continue winning as much points as possible, if they want to reach Europe’s biggest competition.

Besiktas are showing some great form lately, winning all of their last three matches.

Istanbul Basaksehir on the other hand won just one of their three games – against Galatasaray, so they really need to improve their form in the final rounds of the league.

Recently Besiktas were eliminated from the Europa League, so now they could concentrate entirely on the Super Lig. They are clearly the strongest team in the country right now, but they still have to secure the title and they should avoid celebrating too early.

Istanbul Basaksehir on the other hand are enjoying one of the best seasons in their history. Reaching the Champions League would be a terrific achievement for this club and you can be sure that they will give their all to do it.

Maybe Besiktas are the favourite to win this clash, but do not underrestimate the home team as well. It’s going to be a great game!

The Turkish giant Besiktas hosts Olympique Lyonnais in a second leg from the Europa League 1/4-finals at the Vodafone Arena in Istanbul.

The French team won the first leg in Lyonnais with 2-1, which is giving them a slight advantage before the difficult visit to Turkey. It was a really unfortunate experience for Besiktas as the Turkish team had a goal advantage until the 83th minute of the game. Two very quick goals from Corentin Tolisso and Jeremy Morel allowed OL to overturn the game and win it in the last minutes.

Even with a goal advantage from the first leg, everyone at Olympique Lyonnais expects a very tough fixture in Istanbul. And they are completely right. It’s always very difficult for the foreign teams to play in Turkey, because the atmosphere there is traditionally very hostile. You can be sure that Besiktas’ fans will do the best they can to support their team and make it very difficult for the French team.

In the first leg Besiktas showed everyone that they have enough quality to rival Olympique Lyonnais on the pitch. Even with losing the first leg, the result is not really that much for them. Even a “clean” win with 1-0 will allow them to qualify for the 1/2-finals, because they already have the so important away goal scored. But it would be a very dangerous tactic if they enter the pitch with the thought of a 1-0 win.

As for Olympique Lyonnais, the French team knows that winning Europa League is their only chance of returining to the Champions League next season. They are already out of the battle for the Top 3 in Ligue 1, so now they do not have any other chances of returning to the CL, except of winning the Europa League. Let’s see if they are going to be able to do it.

Ajax welcomes Schalke 04 in a first Europa League 1/4-final at the Amsterdam ArenA in the city of Amsterdam.

This is one of the most interesting clashes in the Europa League 1/4-finals this season, as we see two historical clubs with big traditions against each other.

Ajax are currently engaged in a fierce battle with Feyenoord for the title in the Eredivisie, so it’s not clear if they are going to prioritize their Europa League participation until the end of the season. They are just one point behind Feyenoord in the standings, so it won’t be surprising if they prioritize to fight for the title instead of continuing in the European competition.

As for Schalke, winning Europa League is this team’s only chance for a return to the Champions League. The Royal Blues are seriously underperforming in the Bundesliga this season and they are far away from the Champions League places in the standings.

In the last phase of the tournament, Ajax won the battle against the Dannish champion København, while Schalke managed to eliminate their countrymen Borussia M’gladbach after two draws and more goals on away ground.

This is going to be a very interesting clash between two classy and technical teams, although as we said – one of them is currently underperforming in its domestic league. But even having serious problems in the Bundesliga, Schalke still managed to reach the Europa League 1/4-finals, which is a great achievement for the Royal Blues. Let’s see how far they could go in the competition. Their goal is clear – participation in the final and maybe winning it. They are former holders of the trophy, so it won’t be something new for them.

As for Ajax, the Dutch team have to decide if they are going to concentrate entirely on winning the title in the Eredivisie or they are also going to reach for the Europa League trophy as well.

Can the champion Barcelona keep its crown in the Spanish La Liga? The Catalans are currently just two points behind the leader Real Madrid, although the Los Blancos still have a game in hand. In order to keep their chances alive, Barca must win as much games as possible until the end of the season. Starting with the visit to Granada on Saturday night.

Luis Enrique’s team had a brief spell on the top of La Liga, but the loss against Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor once again moved them back to the 2nd place.

Granada on the other hand are still fighting against relegation, although their task seems very hard. Granada are currently 19th in the league, being on 7 points behind the 17th Leganes and the safety zone. They need points as soon as possible, but can they start winning them against a club of Barcelona’s calibre?

There’s going to be one huge absence in Barcelona’s squad for the visit to Granada. The best player in the club’s history Lionel Messi is suspended, so he will miss the trip. In same time Arda Turan is also unavaliable because of an injury, while Aleix Vidal remains sidelined until the end of the season. Jordi Alba and Jeremy Mathieu are doubtful for the clash.

Four of Granada’s players are doubtful for the clash. Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez, Matthieu Saunier, Héctor Hernández and Adrian Ramos are still recovering from injuries, so their participation in the game is still not clear. The good news come from the recovery of Omer Atzily, Martin Hongla and Panagiotis Kone, who are once again fit and ready to play for the home team.

Barcelona are the clear favourite to win this game, but do not forget that it was the same when they travelled to La Coruna to face Deportivo. If Los Cules underrestimate this game as well, the result could be dissapointing for them once again.

After a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Georgios Karaiskáki in Piraeus, Besiktas and Olympiakos will meet again in a fierce Balkan derby in the Europa League 1/8-finals.

Esteban Cambiasso gave Olympiakos the lead in the first leg, but Vincent Aboubakar equalized after the break. This goal allowed Besiktas to expect the second leg in Instabul with a slight advantage.

With this result Besiktas could qualify for the 1/4-final even with a 0-0 draw, but the Turkish team probably knows very well that it could be a dangerous idea to start the game with such a thought.

Besiktas was clearly the better team in Piraeus. The Turkish team attacked better and had more opportunities to score, but after all the game ended with a 1-1 draw.

Besiktas is still a leader in the Turkish Super Lig, having two points advantage in front of Istanbul BB. Senol Güneş’ team lost two points in its last game, surprisingly being unable to beat Kayserispor at home.

Olympiakos on the other hand is also a leader in the Greek Super League. Vasilis Vouzas’ team is having six points advantage in front of Panionios, marching confidently towards another title in the league.

We could say that Besiktas are a favourite for qualification, not just because the result from the first leg, but also because of its better performance in this game. But the Balkan derbies are often very unpredictable, so nobody should write off Olympiakos’ chances just yet. The Greek team still possess very good and skilled players, who could overturn the deficit from the first leg at home turf.

Olympiakos need to attack and look for the goal, if they want to continue in the competition. On the other hand, this is going to open a lot of chances for the home team.

Two German teams are meeting in the Europa League 1/8-finals. Schalke 04 and Borussia M’gladbach will have to determine which one of these two squads will proceed to the 1/4-finals of the competition.

In the 1/16-finals Schalke managed to eliminate PAOK, while Borussia M’gladbach showed its true class against Fiorentina and qualified to the next round. The first game between the two teams will be played at the VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

We could say that both teams are underperforming in the Bundesliga this season. After qualifying for the Champions League last season, right now Borussia are 9th in the standings, 9 points behind the 4th Hoffenheim. Dieter Hecking’s team won its last four games in the Bundesliga, which really helped them to improve their position in the table.

Schalke on the other hand are 12th in the standings, which is a pure disaster for a club with such ambitions and potential. Markus Weinzierl’s boys didn’t win neither one of their last three games in the league, winning just one of the last five.

Schalke will be without the injured Naldo, Baba Rahman and Breel Donald Embolo, while Donis Avdijaj is also out for the game. The good news for the Royal Blues come from the recovery of Atsuto Uchida and Jorge Andujar Coke.

Borussia M’gladach won’t be able to rely on Moritz Nicolas, Mamadou Doucoure and Ibrahima Traoré, who are all injured at the moment. In same time Andreas Christensen, Christoph Kramer and Joel Mero are doubtful for the match with different problems. Thorgan Hazard and Marvin Schulz are ready to play though, so we could see them in action once again.

This is a difficult game to predict, because the European games are very different from the ones in the domestic league. Most probably the tie is going to be decided in the second leg.

Monaco welcomes Nice in the most interesting game from the 23rd round of the French Ligue 1. Both teams are currently on the top of the league with 49 points each, but Monaco is the team with the better goal difference.

It’s a little bit strange season in the Ligue 1. Everyone was expecting a domination from the champion PSG, but Unai Emery’s team is currently third in the league with three points behind Monaco and Nice. The champions still have a good chance to defend their crown, but this time they will face some real competition for the title.

Monaco are performing amazingly good this season. Leonardo Jardim’s team scored more goals than any other team in the league so far – 65, being the most attractive and exciting team to watch in France since the start of the new campaign. Leonardo Jardim’s great work already led to some speculations, that he could move to a bigger club after the end of the season. But right now he’s still in Monaco and he has only one goal in mind – winning the Ligue 1 for 8th time in the club’s history and for first time since 2000.

Nice are another team which is impressing everyone since the start of the season. Alassane Plea and Mario Balotelli formed a formidable partnernship in attack, scoring 20 goals combined for their team in the Ligue 1. Nice are also the team with the best defense in France, having conceded just 15 goals so far in the league.

On Saturday night we will have the chance to see the best attack in France against the best defense in the country. Nobody scored more goals than Monaco this season and nobody conceded less than Nice. This is a reason to expect a very interesting game at the Stade Louis II. A game which could be very important for the title hunt as well.

Eibar welcomes Atletico Madrid in a game from the 17th round of the Spanisn La Liga. The match will be played on Saturday at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa in Eibar.

Things are not going good for Atletico Madrid lately. Diego Simeone’s team is already falling behind with 9 points behind the leader Real Madrid, which is also with a game in hand. Atletico won just two of its last five games and lost two of them as well. This kind of inconstancy is already leaving the capital team out of the title race, because very soon Real Madrid and Barcelona could be out of their reach for good.

Atletico’s bad form in the last few weeks again sparked some rumours that Diego Simeone could leave the club after the end of the season. It’s not a secret that the Argentine manager is linked with a return to his former club Inter. It remains to be seen how Atletico are going to finish the season and what Cholo Simeone is going to decide about his future.

Eibar on the other hand are performing even better than they probably have been expecting. Mendilibar’s team is comfortably sitting at 8th place in the standings, which is for now giving the team some extra calmness about its survival in La Liga this season.

This game is probably more crucial for Atletico than it is for Eibar. The capital team can’t afford to continue losing points. They could even lose their place in the Champions League, if they continue like that. Teams like Sevilla, Villarreal, Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao are also contenders for the Top 4 this season, so Atletico will have some serious competition for a Champions League qualification until the end of the campaign. For Eibar it’s all clear – their main goal remains to survive in La Liga for another season.

Bayer Leverkusen welcomes Monaco at the BayArena in the last round of the group stages of the Champions League.

Monaco is the surprising winner of Group E of the Champions League, while Bayer Leverkusen will finish the group at second place. This game will not change anything in the standings of the group.

Both teams are still unbeaten in the tournament so far. Monaco won three of its games and shared the points in two and now the French team is already expecting the draw for the knock-out phase.

Bayer Leverkusen on the other hand won the battle for the second place with Tottenham and they are now also thinking about the next phase of the tournament.

The first game between the two teams in Monaco finished with a 1-1 draw. Javier Hernandez opened the score for Leverkusen in the middle of the second half, but Kamil Glik scored a late equalizer in the injury time, saving a point for the 2004 finalists.

Bayer Leverkusen will be without the services of Karim Bellarabi, Admir Mehmedi, Kevin Volland and Kevin Kampl, who are all injured. Lars Bender is also still not avaliable for pick, while Hakan Calhanoglu is doubtful for the match.

Monaco’s manager Leonardo Jardim will be without the goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, who is injured and will not be avaliable for the game.

During the weekend Bayer Leverkusen made a wrong step against Freiburg at home, being unable to achieve anything more than a 1-1 draw. The Aspirins are not performing well in the Bundesliga this season and they are currently 9th in the standings.

Monaco continue to perform greatly in the French Ligue 1. Leo Jardim’s team is second in the standings, just three points behind the surprising leader Nice. During the weekend Monaco thrashed Bastia at home, winning 5-0.

%d0%b8%d0%b7%d1%82%d0%b5%d0%b3%d0%bb%d0%b5%d0%bd-%d1%84%d0%b0%d0%b9%d0%bb-14
Everything looked just right in the Spanish La Liga last week, when Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid all won their last games. And with Sevilla surprisingly losing two points against Sporting Gijon, the three big clubs are now once again leading the table. Real Madrid currently have two points advantage in front of Barcelona, while Altetico Madrid are moving three points away from the leader.

It’s ten goals scored for Real Madrid in Los Blancos’ last two away games in La Liga. After they scored six times against Real Betis, now they scored four against Deportivo Alaves away from home. This is seriously impressive away form for Zinedine Zidane’s team. For Real Madrid the best thing that happened in Alaves was Cristiano Ronaldo’s hattrick. The Portuguese star started the new season a little bit quiet, but at the Estadio de Mendizorroza he once again showed everyone how deadly he could be in front of goal.

Real Madrid will need Cristiano to be back to his best in thext seven months, if they want to win La Liga for first time since 2012. This is a serious time without a title for the European Champions, so now everyone insists from Zinedine Zidane and his boys to win the gold medals for a first time in five years. Now they are about to face Leganes at the Santiago Bernabeu and everyone expects another solid win for the Los Blancos. Especially given the fact that Leganes lost all of their last three La Liga games.

But the reigning champions Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are not going to allow to lose the title without a fight.

Barca won against Granada at the Camp Nou, but they didn’t impress at all. It was kind of dull performance from the Catalans. Rafinha’s only goal brought them the three points, but we didn’t see any glimpses of this team’s magic, including the fantastic trio Messi – Neymar – Suarez. But games like these happen in football and the most important thing is to win the three points. Luis Enrique knows it very well, so you could bet that he’s satisfied with the win.

This weekend the Catalans are facing a very difficult challenge. They will travel to Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán to face Sevilla and this is a game which could end in every way possible. Barca know that they are already behind Real Madrid in the table, so if they lose points it could mean that Real Madrid’s advantage would get even bigger. They will try to win, but against Sevilla it’s always very difficult goal to achieve. We should expect a very intense and interesting game between these two teams.

The La Liga’s top scorers at the moment remain Barcelona players. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez scored seven goals in the first ten rounds of the league, while Celta’s Iago Aspas and Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann follow closely with six scored goals so far. After scoring three against Alaves, Cristiano Ronaldo is coming closer with five goals scored.

Speaking of Atletico, they reacted very well after losing the derby against Sevilla last weekend. Diego Simeone’s team scored four times against Malaga at the Vicente Calderon, so everything looks back on tracks right now. This weekend Atletico travels to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad, so it’s another tough test for Diego Simeone and his team. The Basques are performing well in the league and they won three of their last four matches, so Atletico should give their all, if they want to win there.

The English Premier League proves to be incredibly competitive after the first nine rounds being played. Three teams are fighting for the top spot with an equal amount of points – per 20, and these teams are Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. The goal difference is the only reason why The Citizens are leading the table right now, but this could change very quickly.

Two more teams are just one point behind the first three – Chelsea and Tottenham, who are very close to the top with 19 points won so far. How you can see, the team who is currently 5th in the table could become a leader for just one round. This proves that we shall expect a very competitive and interesting season in England.

It’s curious to follow what’s happening with Manchester City. Josep Guardiola’s team started the new campaign in a brilliant way, enjoying six consecutive wins. The problems for City came in the last few weeks, in which The Citizens didn’t win neither one of their last three games, winning just 2 points out of 9.

Teams like Arsenal and Liverpool used this dip of form to get closer to the top. The Gunners won four of their last five games and if it was the dissapointing draw against Middlesbrough at The Emirates, now Arsene Wenger’s team would have been the new leader in the Premier League. It was absolutely unexpected to see Arsenal struggling against Boro at home ground, but this is another proof how strong the Premier League is this season.

Liverpool is another team who deserves some compliments for its results lately. Jurgen Klopp’s team started the new campaign with in an inconsistent way, but The Reds managed to stabilize their performance with the time. Just like Arsenal, Liverpool won four of their last five games, losing points only against Manchester United at the Anfield. In this game Liverpool was the better team, but Jose Mourinho’s defensive approach and David De Gea’s heroics saved a point for the Red Devils.

Chelsea’s manager Antonio Conte is breathing more freely now, after he was close to sacking just a few weeks ago. When The Blues lost two consecutive games against Liverpool and Arsenal, everyone thought that Conte’s time at the Stamford Bridge could be over really soon. Then there came three wins in a row against Hull, Leicester and Manchester United, which proved that Juventus’ former manager has the potential to turn Chelsea into the powerhouse this team was in the Premier League not too much ago.

Let’s not forget teams like Tottenham, Everton and especially Manchester United, who are currently out of the Top 4 in the Premier League, but surely have the potential to be important factors in the league. It’s interesting to see how Jose Mourinho will deal with the pressure he’s facing at the Old Trafford at the moment, especially after the expensive signings he made before the start of the season. When you are paying more than 100 millions for just one player, everyone expects from you to do a little better.

One of the favourites to win Group A of the Champions League Arsenal welcomes Ludogorets at the Emirates Stadium in London.

Both Arsenal and PSG are leading the group with 4 points won from the first two games, underlining their status as the two major teams in this company. As it was expected, Ludogorets and Basel are probably going to fight for the third spot and Europa League football.

Ludogorets are a decent team with some nice players, but it would be one of the big surprises of the night, if they take something from Arsenal at The Emirates. The Gunners are much more impressive as a team, so the Bulgarians are the clear underdogs in this clash.

For Arsenal is important to win every points possible until the end of the group stage, because the battle for the first spot with PSG is going to be really intense. The French club is also motivated to win the group, so we should expect some solid battle in the coming weeks.

It’s not typical for Real Madrid to lose points in three consecutive games in La Liga, but exactly this happened to Zinedine Zidane’s team in the last month. The Los Blancos didn’t win neither once against Villarreal, Las Palmas and Eibar, which is the reason why La Liga has a new leader – Atletico Madrid.

Now the European champions are travelling to Seville to meet Real Betis and they know very well that this time they have to win. A fourth consecutive game without a win would be a sign for a serious crisis at the Bernabeu and nobody really wants it, especially Zinedine Zidane.

Real Betis are just two points above the relegation zone in La Liga, winning just two games in the first seven rounds of the league. In the last round they lost against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta, but before that they managed to win against Malaga at home. Now they are about to face a much harder test.

Two of the biggest favourites for World Cup qualification in Group E Poland and Denmark are about to face each other at Stadion Narodowy in the capital Warszawa.

Denmark are currently leading the group after beating Armenia at home in their first game in Group E, while Poland managed to win just one point from their visit to Kazakhstan in September. The Polish team left a good impression during the Euro 2016 in France this summer, so they are one of the strongest team in this group.

A win over the Red Dynamite could allow Poland to lead the group, while three points would put Denmark in a really strong position after the first two games in the group. But could they deal with Robert Lewandowski and the rest of Poland’s biggest stars? It’s certainly something they must do, if they want to leave Warszawa with a point or three.

The champions Rosenborg are once again an unstoppable force in Norwegian football and they already clinched another title in the Eliteserien, being absolutely untouchable in 2016. And this weekend they could celebrate another win, hosting Vålerenga at home.

Rosenborg are again the best team in Norway and the stats are proving this. Kare Ingebrigtsen’s team won 19 of 25 games played so far, losing just one of them. Meanwhile Rosenborg scored 57 goals and conceded just 17, which is showing a great balance between defense and attack.

Vålerenga on the other hand are more close to relegation than to something else in the league. They are just three points over the relegation play-off, so they must give their all in the remaining matches, if they want to feel safe.

Even if Vålerenga’s motivation for this clash is arguably bigger, Rosenborg are still a much, much better team than them. Everything else than a win for the champions would be a huge surprise.

The German powerhouse Schalke 04 are hosting the ambitious Red Bull Salzburg in an Europa League game at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

The Royal Blues started in a positive manner their participation at the Europa League this season, beating Nice during their trip to France. Salzburg on the other hand dissapointed their fans, losing against the Russian side Krasnodar at home.

The Austrian team knows that they should take at least a point from this game, if they want to keep high chances for qualifying for the knockout phase of the tournament. But it won’t be an easy task at the Veltins-Arena.

You should take attention of Schalke’s shocking performance in the Bundesliga so far. The Royal Blues lost all of their five games in the league so far and they are the only team without a point in the Bundesliga so far. Salzburg on the other hand didn’t lose neither one of their last five games in the Austrian Bundesliga.

Milan travels to the beautiful city of Florence this weekend, where the Rossoneri will meet Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. For Milan’s manager Vincenzo Montella this is going to be a clash against one of his former teams he used to manage in the past.

Milan’s performance in the Serie A since the start of the season is the definition of contrast. The Rossoneri won three of their first five games and lost two, which means that Milan still can’t find a long needed consistency in their performance.

Fiorentina still have a game in hand, after one of their matches was postponed. Currently La Viola is placed at the the middle of the table with 7 points won from four games played, so this is a good opportunity for Paulo Sousa’s boys to improve their position in the standings. As for Milan, three points in Florence could mean a place among the first three teams in the table.

The BayArena in Leverkusen is ready to welcome some Champions League football once again, because Bayer Leverkusen is hosting CSKA Moscow in a game from Group E of the most prestigious club competition on the planet.

Roger Schmidt’s Leverkusen didn’t start too well the new season in the German Bundesliga, losing against Borussia M’gladbach in the first round of the league. The former finalists in the competition fixed their mistake against Hamburger at home, winning comfortably with 3-1 just a few days ago.

CSKA Moscow also lost some points since the start of the new season in Russia’s Premier League. The team from the capital is currenly placed at 2nd place in the league, with just their city rivals Spartak Moscow being in front of them in the table.

Bayer Leverkusen are clearly a favourite to win this clash because of their home advantage, but it’s never easy to play against russian sides.

Liverpool are about to play their first home game of this season, welcoming the champion Leicester City at the legendary Anfield Road.

The Reds started the new season in the English Premier League with three away games in a row, winning four points during the process. Now it’s time for Liverpool to grace the Anfield for a first time this season, which is something to be expected from the legendary club’s fans.

Leicester on the other hand started the new campaing exactly like Liverpool, winning four points in the first three points. The Foxes managed to keep their biggest stars Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez during the summer, which was great news for the manager Claudio Ranieri. It’s remain to be seen what we could expect from the champions this season.

This a first game for Liverpool at the Anfield since the start of the season, so we could expect a frantic atmosphere at the legendary ground. But last season Leicester proved that they are not feeling intimidated by playing on hostile territory.

%d0%b8%d0%b7%d1%82%d0%b5%d0%b3%d0%bb%d0%b5%d0%bd-%d1%84%d0%b0%d0%b9%d0%bb-12

The champions Barcelona are travelling to San Mames Barria in the Basque country, where they are about to face Athletic Bilbao.

Barca started the new season in La Liga in a spectacular fashion, beating Real Betis with 6-2 at home. Luis Suarez bagged another hat-trick for the Catalans, while Leo Messi scored twice for Luis Enrique’s team.

The start of the new campaign was not that successful for Athletic Bilbao and their manager Ernesto Valverde, with the Basque team losing its visit to Sporting Gijon. Now they will have the opportunity to win their first points in the league, but it would require a much better performance against a powerhouse like Barcelona.

Barcelona on the other hand are aware that every point could be crucial in the battle for the La Liga crown. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will be ready to use every mistake the Catalans make, so the game in Bilbao will not be an exception.

%d0%b8%d0%b7%d1%82%d0%b5%d0%b3%d0%bb%d0%b5%d0%bd-%d1%84%d0%b0%d0%b9%d0%bb-10

It’s time for the German Bundesliga to start once again. The current champion Bayern Munich welcomes Werder Bremen in the first game of the new season, which would also be a debut for Bayern’s new manager Carlo Ancelotti in the German league.

The Italian manager replaced Josep Guardiola on helm and now everyone expect the same kind of success from him as well. Mats Hummels is expected to start after his move from Borussia Dortmund, while the other new signing of Bayern Renato Sanches will miss the game because of an injury. Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa will also be absent from Ancelotti’s starting eleven.

Werder will not have the opportunity to rely on their most expensive summer signing Max Kruse, who suffered a serious knee injury just a few days ago. It’s just a bad luck for Werder after the club paid 7,50 millions euro to Wolfsburg for Kruse’s services during the summer.

The 2016/17 season of the English Premier League starts with the game between Hull City and the current champion Leicester City. The game will be played at KCOM Stadium in Hull.

Leicester did the impossible last season by winning the Premier League for first time in the club’s history – something, which even the biggest fans of the Foxes would never expect to happen. The champions were unable to keep the french international N’Golo Kante, who was sold to Chelsea for 35,80 million euro, while Andrej Kramaric was sold to Hoffenheim for 10 millions.

So far the best news for the manager Claudio Ranieri come from the fact that Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez are still there. These are Leicester’s biggest stars and it would be a major boost for the Foxes if they manage to keep them for another season.

Meanwhile, Leicester paid 19,50 million euro to CSKA Moscow for the nigerian striker Ahmed Musa, while 15,50 more millions were paid to OGC Nice for the defensive midfielder Nampalys Mendy, who will have the hard task to replace N’Golo Kante. Leicester also signed the attacking midfielder Bartosz Kapustka (Cracovia Krakow) and the goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler (Hannover 96), so we could say that the Foxes did enough to improve ther championship winning squad.

Hull City is one of the teams who won promotion to the Premier League last season. The Tigers are led by the manager Mike Phelan and they will do their best to keep their place in the elite. So far Hull surprisingly didn’t sign any new players, while the central midfielder Mohamed Diame was sold to Newcastle for 5,40 million euro. Sone Aluko and Ryan Taylor also left the club.

It would be very brave to think that Leicester could defend its title this season, but Claudio Ranieri’s team could still do very well during the campaign. And it would be interesting to see how they will start the new season away from home against Hull City.

It’s time! Euro 2016 in France officially begins! The world is ready to watch Europe’s best team facing each other on international level. Will Spain defend its crown? Or we will see a new champion? Which teams will be the major surprises of the tournament? And which will be the ones to dissapoint? Only time will tell.

Euro 2016 will be the first in history so far to include 24 teams. There are six groups of four teams, with the group stage being followed by a knockout phase, including three rounds and the final. The team which wins the trophy will also recieve the right to participate in the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia.

If we could describe this edition of the European Championship, then we should use the word “security”. After the terrorist attacks on Paris on 13 November 2015, the Euro 2016 will be probably the most secured event in the history of France. Tourists, fans, stadiums and players will be guarded by special forces, with fear and insecurity being sensed in the air.

The hosts France, Germany, Spain and Italy are considered the biggest favourites to lift the trophy, while Belgium, Croatia, England and Portugal are also considered as possible winners. The most notable absentee is Netherlands – the same team which finished third in the last edition of the World Cup in Brazil.

Passion, smiles, tears, triumph and failure – we will probably see them all during the Euro 2016. It’s the biggest football event of the year, so prepare yourself. Europe will breathe football in the next month.

Euro 2016 officially begins with the hosts France welcoming Romania at the Stade de France in the french capital.

Didier Deschamps’ team is one of the main favourites to win the trophy, not just because they host the tournament. Players like Blaise Matuidi, Pol Pogba, Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud guarantee that France is going to be a solid factor in the tournament, but you should also not forget about talented youngsters like Kingsley Coman and Anthony Martial, who made a nice impression playing for Bayern Munich and Manchester United last season.

Led by Anghel Iordanescu, Romania will try to oppose to the big favourite of the game. The Balkan team will most probably rely on its team spirit and unity to neutralize France’s enormous potential. Don’t be surprised to see Romania playing with ten men behind the ball, patiently waiting for its chances to counter attack and use every opportunity given to them by the hosts.

England and Russia are facing each other to determine which team will be the big favourite in Group B of Euro 2016.

These two teams are seen as favourites to reach the knockout phase of the tournamens, although Wales and Slovakia should not be underestimated, too. Because surprises can happen in any given moment.

England’s team is one of the youngest in the competition, which is seen as a positive thing for the Three Lions. If this brave decision by the manager Roy Hodgson is going to pay out for the brits, it remains to be seen.

Russia on the other hand will rely on their manager’s Leonid Slutsky rich experience. Slutsky replaced the legendary Fabio Capello last August and his record so far is more than positive – six wins from eight games with the russian national team. Slutsky is the first russian to manage the selection since 2006.

World champions Germany officially start their Euro 2016 campaign against Ukraine at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Villeneuve-d’Ascq.

Die Mannschaft will try to do the same thing Spain did few years ago – winning the European Championship right after their triumph at the World Cup. Germany is probably the most favoured team to win the Euro 2016, although there are many other good teams to reach for the trophy.

There are few changes which Die Mannschaft’s manager Joachim Low had to make after the World Cup. Legends like Miroslav Klose and Phillip Lahm are not part of the national team anymore, but there are some new faces like Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sane, Julian Weigl and even Mario Gomez, who was not picked for the World Cup.

Ukraine will come into the game with a boosted confidence, after winning all of the four friendlies the team have played in the last few months – against Cyprus, Wales, Romania and Albania. Germany is a team from a different league, though, so we shall see how Mikhail Fomenko’s team will behave against a squad from this calibre.

The host of Euro 2016 France is facing one of the surprising participants in the competition Albania at Stade Velodrome in Marseille.

Didier Deschamps’ team scored a late goal and managed to win against Romania in their first game, while the debutants Albania were beaten by the far more experienced team of Switzerland. Now they need to take at least a point to keep their hopes for something more in the competition, although it’s a very difficult task against a team filled with stars such as France.

It’s not surprising that France is the big favourite in this game. Deschamps’ players will try to bring some more joy to their fans, maybe scoring more goals than they did against Romania, too. There are high expectations about France in this tournament, so they need to perform better if they want to prove their reputation of title contenders. Albania is a good chance for them to show their pure class and make a statement.

France and Switzerland will have to determine which team will finish on top in Group A of Euro 2016.

The hosts are currently leading the group with a full active of six points, although they’re not really convincing with their performance so far. France managed to beat Romania and Albania with late goals, but this luck is probably not always going to serve them. They need to better their performance, if they want to win the tournament.

Switzerland is currently at second place in the group with four points, after beating Albania and making a draw against Romania.

This game looks interesting, mainly because it’s curious to see how France is going to react to the hard critics Didier Deschamps’ team had to accept. The fans and the press are not satisfied with the team’s performance, so they will probably want to see something different against Switzerland.

Belgium and Hungary will have to determine which one of the two teams will advance to the 1/4-finals of Euro 2016.

Belgium is one of the strongest teams in the tournament and many people pick them as the biggest dark horse among the favourites to lift the trophy. On paper they have a brilliant squad, which can defeat any team on the continent, but it remains to see if they have the right mentality and preparation to do it. Many people think that this is the right moment for Hazard, Lukaku, Courtois and the other to shine and rewrite history.Hungary on the other side is one of the nice surprises of the tournament so far. They don’t qualify very often for big tournaments, so their advancement to the 1/8-finals was accepted as a surprise. Hungary don’t have any huge star players to name, but they have a good team chemistry, which is sometimes even more important than just having big names.

images (10)

Italy versus Spain is the big derby of the 1/8-finals of Euro 2016 in France. Four years after Spain humilated Italy with 4-0 in the final of the competition, now the Azzurri will seek a redemption.

Both teams finished their participation in the group phase with losses, but after they have already been qualified for the knockout phase. It’s still interesting to see how this will affect their managers’ decisions and how they’re going to pick their teams for the big clash.

Their performance in the group stage is absolutely similar – they won their first two games in the group, before losing the last one. Spain is the reigning champion of the continent, but it’s difficult to pick them as a favourite. The same could be said about Italy, too. There ain’t really any favourites in this game. We should expect a thrilling tactical battle between Antonio Conte and Vicente del Bosque, which are among the best and most successful managers in the competition.

images (10)

England is facing one of the biggest surprises in the tournament Iceland in the last 1/8-final game of Euro 2016.

The british team is living a new life under the guidance of their manager Roy Hodgson, who decided to refresh his squad after the last World Cup. Hodgson integrated a lot of young and unexperienced players in the team, which caused a serious improvement and brought new hunger in the Three Lions’ squad.

Iceland is one of the major surpries in the tournament so far. They’re debutants in a tournament of this rank, so they already achieved much more than many people expected from them. They’re a team with a great team spirit, so it would be a serious mistake by the british team if they underestimate them.

England are clearly the favourite to go through in the tournament, but Iceland are a charismatic team which could really bring a serious surpise in any given moment.

images (10)

Poland and Portugal will battle for a place among the best four team in Euro 2016 in France.

The polish team qualified to the 1/4-finals after a dramatic win with penalties over Switzerland in the 1/8-finals, while Portugal crushed Croatia’s ambitions with a late Ricardo Quaresma goal in the extra time of the game.

Portugal’s way to the 1/4-finals is absolutely sensational. They still don’t have a win in the regular time of their four games in the tournament so far, but they’re now among the best eight teams in the competition. It’s difficult to say that they’re impressing anyone with their performance so far, including the captain Cristiano Ronaldo, but it’s a fact that they are still here and now they have a real chance to reach the semi-finals.

Poland on the other hand performed very well in the group stage and didn’t concede even one goal in their first three games, including against the world champion Germany.

images (10)

Wales are facing Belgium in the second 1/4-final of Euro 2016. Only one of these two teams will continue to the 1/2-finals of the competition and will proudly take place among the best four teams in Europe at the moment.

Wales reached the 1/4-finals after a fine performance in the group stage and a win over another british team in their first game from the knock-out phase – Northern Irealand. Gareth Bale is the big inspiration of Wales, so now their hopes will be directed towards him once again.

Belgium is one of the favourites to win the trophy. The manager Marc Wilmots can rely on some world class players in his squad. In their last game the Red Devils humilated Hungary and showed a true promise for something more in the competition.

Belgium is the clear favourite to go through, but Wales should not be underestimated.

images (10)

Germany versus Italy is the biggest game of the Euro 2016 1/4-finals.

The reigning world champions are facing the team which eliminated the reigning european champion in a high-profile clash, which is going to attract the attention of every football fan on the planet.

It’s safe to say that these are the teams which are performing in the most impressive way since the beginning of the championship. If they were not about to face each other in this phase of the tournament, there was a big chance to see them in a direct battle for the trophy.

This game is also a repeat of the Euro 2012 semi-final, when Italy beat Germany with 2-1 and progressed to the final, where they got humilated by Spain.

It’s the biggest game of Euro 2016 so far and many people think that the winner of this clash coud eventually lift the trophy in Paris.

images (10)

The hosts of the tournament France are facing the sensation Iceland in the last 1/4-final of the Euro 2016.

France are being regarded as one of the favourites to win the competition, although they are still not showing the football which their fans are expecting from them. They managed to accomplish a difficult win over Ireland in the last round, when we saw them having some serious troubles against the british team.

Iceland on the other hand is one of the major surprises of Euro 2016. They are debutants at a competition of this calibre, but they still managed to reach the 1/4-finals. Their win over England in the last round is their biggest football achievement of all times.

France is clearly the favourite to reach the 1/2-finals, but we thought the same about England, too. Didier Deschamps’ boys must pay full attention to Iceland, if they don’t want to follow England’s fate.

images (10)

Portugal are facing the sensation Wales in the fist 1/2-final of the Euro 2016 in France. One of these two teams will continue to the final and face the winner of the other 1/2-final between Germany and France.

Portugal reached the 1/2-finals without even one recorded win in the competition so far, which is really an interesting phenomenon. But even without winning, Portugal still finds a way to be effective in the tournament, which is an impressive thought.

Wales on the other hand is overperforming and surprising everyone with their achievement in the competition. This is a historical tournament for the Dragons, which are enjoying their best performance in history so far. Could they do even more?

This is a battle between Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, but also between their teams. Just on paper Portugal is the favourite to go through, but remember that it was the same case for Belgium as well.

images (10)
Germany versus France is the big derby of the Euro 2016 semi-finals.
Germany are the current world champions and the big favourite to lift the trophy in Paris, while France will try use the support of their fans in order to stop Joachim Low’s incredible team.
Both teams had a totally different experience during the quarter-finals. Germany had to go through penalties in order to eliminate Italy, while France didn’t face any problems against Iceland and offered an atractive show to their supporters.
Now it’s the moment of truth for Joachim Low and Didier Deschamps’ players. They are just one win away from participating in the final of the competition and losing in this phase of the tournament would be incredibly painful.
We are expecting to see one of the most interesting clashes since the start of Euro 2016. One of these two very good teams will celebrate, while the other will have to swallow the defeat.

images (10)

It’s time for the big final. France and Portugal will determine which team will be crowned as the new champion of Europe.

The game at “Stade de France” will see the hosts of the tournament France aiming to win the european cup for a first time since 2000 and for a third time in their history. Didier Deschamps’ team eliminated the world champion Germany in the semi-finals, so now we should expect to see them perform with a boosted confidence in front of their own fans.

Portugal on the other hand reached the final of the competition with just one win in their six games – against Wales. It’s an interesting phenomenon, because it’s a real rarety to see a team with just one win to reach the final of a tournament of this calibre.

The battle between Antoine Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo will attract a lot of attention. Both of them scored during the semi-finals, so now they will try to repeat their good performance in the most important game of the competition.
